A rapidly expanding Hedge Fund with a significant AUM are looking to make a newly created, somewhat unique front office hire.
The investment professional will report in to the CEO, in a key ‘stand-alone’ business management capacity. The hire will have sole responsibility for all traders/portfolio managers with regards to the remit that they cover – in its simplest sense, the hire will critically analyse each front office professional’s trading performance, strategy and idea generation, providing detailed analysis to the CEO and with a key input in to decision making and on business strategy. The role is focused on providing each front office professional at the firm with the maximum chance of enhanced revenue generation + a better framework in place for them/the fund itself.
The previous two individuals in this role have progressed in to roles running money directly for the CIO, successfully, on the back of developing in this role (the hire will learn the front-to-back trading habits, ideas and strategies of multiple leading hedge fund investment professionals). However, the role itself can certainly provide the hire with longevity, in addition to other progression routes becoming available (for example chief risk officer or quantitative analytics positions).
We are ideally looking for an experienced buy-side portfolio manager, who is looking for a career change away from the high pressure of running his/her own book. We are open to successful buy-side traders, but this should be a true trader running risk rather than anybody that has sat in execution roles. We could consider a high-quality buy-side risk professional, but they would have to possess exceptional front-end knowledge of hedge fund strategies and markets.
The role has flexibility on budget to secure the correct candidate, but it will most likely offer a circa 150k base salary (candidates currently earning much larger base salaries should not however be perturbed from applying) + a bonus that can make up a large % of that number (should the individual perform to a high standard) + an ‘additional kicker’ based on fund performance.
