Reporting directly in to the global CRO, the hire will be placed in to a highly autonomous, visible role for its rapidly expanding European business. The role is very much part of front office, directly supporting investment teams (providing infrastructure/analytic support, hands-on risk oversight and fielding frequent ad-hoc requests), directly facing off to all European PM’s and business partners. There is a split between risk management, risk measurement and also a commercial element in this role. Far beyond a reporting role/function, the individual will use highly sophisticated quantitative analytics techniques + will interpret results to a high level. The commercial element at a base level is to be in continuous discussion with investment desk heads, but at a higher level it is to assess how the interpreted results can benefit the firm/potentially change investment decisions. All responsibilities are spread across all European hedge fund strategies, hence why this stand-alone role is so highly autonomous. RE progression, in the more immediate term, the hire can expect to gain more involvement in the investment process, as they gain more trust within the firm/show high performance – as the individual will be in a senior, highly visible position for the European business, longer term it allows for very interesting progression upwards. There is a also possibility to lead a larger build out in Europe and/or in the firm’s expanding offices overseas (as a general point there is an opportunity to spend a number of weeks overseas, as per the hire’s preferences).
We are looking to hire a risk management professional with 5-10yrs experience. We are open to IB or Hedge Fund backgrounds. An excellent, numerical education background is expected. SQL skills are a pre-requisite (VBA skills are also expected). Communication skills and the ability to be highly commercial are arguably the most important traits required for the role.
The proposed budget for a star year one performer most certainly allows for the possibility to hire any IB/hedge fund professional at this level, providing them with a large increase on his/her current comp. The comp proposal beyond year one arguably provides a market leading comp for a buy-side hire at this level.
