Mondrian Alpha are partnering a special opportunities investment platform, that substantial backing from a broad base of sophisticated investors, to build out a best-in class London based team ahead of their launch later this year. The platform has a flexible mandate to pursue special situations and opportunistic investments across public and private markets, spanning credit, equity, and hybrid structures.

With few formal constraints, the strategy will cover the full spectrum of opportunities, including traded securities, structured and capital solutions-style financings, and private equity/control investments where the firm takes an active role in driving value creation. The investment approach is highly dynamic and tailored to capture complexity, dislocation, and situations requiring bespoke capital.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join as one of the first hires. This individual will work closely with a highly entrepreneurial founder, tasked with setting-up systems, infrastructure and selecting the most relevant service providers for the launch, with a core focus (given the firm’s strategy) on structuring, reporting, operations, dealing with lawyers etc. Naturally, he/she will play a key role in the long-term development of the platform.

The ideal COO hire would have experience in special situations strategies. A hire with complementary skills in investor relations, tax (across multiple jurisdictions) and/or legal would be particularly beneficial. The hire should have international experience, more specifically having had strong US exposure. We could consider an experienced COO, a COO/CFO type (accounting skillset) or a hire from a legal background (most likely a GC making the move for the first time).
