Data Lead – Tier 1 High-Frequency Trading Firm – Excellent Compensation + Benefits

This team plays a pivotal role in developing the data infrastructure and datasets that power the firm’s global trading strategies. You’ll work closely with traders, researchers, and engineers to design and deliver high-performance systems that enable seamless data access and insight generation across asset classes.

In this role, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of data products, building scalable batch and streaming pipelines, optimizing time-series data workflows, and developing APIs that make both historical and live data easily accessible to trading teams. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, technically sophisticated environment where data quality, performance, and reliability are paramount.

Key responsibilities:

  • Designing and building robust data pipelines for both batch and real-time streaming of large-scale time-series datasets.
  • Developing and maintaining APIs and data access frameworks to deliver high-quality, low-latency data to trading and research systems.
  • Working cross-functionally with trading, research, and engineering teams to deliver scalable data solutions that support diverse strategies.
  • Owning data products from concept to production, ensuring reliability, integrity, and performance at every stage.
  • Providing on-call production support when required, ensuring continuous availability of mission-critical data systems.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in software or data engineering, with strong proficiency in Python or Java
  • Proven ability to deliver production-ready systems in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Experience with Linux-based, concurrent, high-throughput, low-latency systems.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data infrastructure, including Kafka (streaming), Airflow or Dagster (orchestration), and Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg (data lakes).
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and API development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across teams.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, or equivalent practical experience.
